CBR vs VBR: Constant Bit Rate means every second of audio uses exactly 192,000 bits — making files perfectly compatible with all DJ software, broadcast playout systems, media players, and streaming platforms. Variable Bit Rate (VBR) files can cause issues with some software, particularly with seek accuracy and waveform display in DJ applications.
For most music, 192kbps CBR is indistinguishable from higher bitrates in blind listening tests, and is the standard used by many digital distribution services.

Does my audio file get uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion runs entirely inside your browser using FFmpeg.wasm. Your audio file is never transmitted to any server — it is processed in your device's memory and discarded when you close the page or reset the tool.
Why can't I choose a different bitrate?
We've made 192kbps CBR the fixed output because it is the professional standard and works universally. It avoids the confusion of quality settings for users who just need a reliable, high-quality MP3. If you need a specific bitrate for a particular workflow, this is something we may add in a future update.
Can I convert an MP3 to a higher quality MP3?
You can convert an MP3 to a 192kbps MP3, but it will not improve the audio quality. Once audio has been compressed to MP3 at a lower bitrate, that quality loss is permanent. Re-encoding will not recover it. For best results, always convert from a lossless source (WAV or FLAC) if one is available.
How long does conversion take?
Conversion time depends on file size and your device's processing power. A typical 5-minute track in WAV format usually converts in 10–30 seconds on a modern laptop or desktop. The first conversion on a new page load takes slightly longer as the FFmpeg engine initialises.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no server-imposed file size limit. Files up to several hundred megabytes will work on most modern devices. Very large files (over 1GB) may be slow or cause memory issues on older hardware.
